Drawing on a breadth of experience as a developer of sustainable communities, Ensign understands the importance of maintaining the vitality of the local economy, as well as delivering much-needed homes.

It has become increasingly clear that Northampton needs more homes and the Government has set significant targets to ensure that those housing requirements are met. Ensign’s planning application for the Buckton Fields site proposes the development of approximately 1,050 new high quality homes which will be built to a level compliant with prevailing Code for Sustainable Homes requirements. The proposed scheme for the full Buckton Fields site will deliver much needed private and affordable homes for the area, catering for a range of needs whilst helping to meet the identified housing targets for Northampton.

Ensign has a sympathetic understanding of the environment - in terms of both the external appearance of its homes and consideration for the surrounding area. Properties at Buckton Fields will be designed to incorporate the architectural characteristics of property in the local area. Great attention will also be paid to creating a high quality development that both respects the local landscape and complements the existing environment, creating a sensitive transition between the development and the countryside beyond.

The development will provide public open spaces, play areas and playing fields, which can be accessed by both new residents and existing members of the surrounding communities. These will provide quality places for outdoor leisure and recreational pursuits.

Development proposals for the wider site also include provision of a primary school that is expected to accommodate approximately 250 pupils – enhancing primary education choice in the area. The new school will be highly accessible by foot and bicycle. Additional on-site community facilities will include a local centre with a convenience store, shops and community facilities to cater for local needs and act as a community focus. The proposals also include provision for a residential care home providing approximately 70 beds.

The proposed employment development will offer up to 5,600sq. metres of high quality business space, which has the potential to create approximately 185 jobs that will help to enrich the local economy and secure the right balance of employment and residential uses.
